NRCM Sustainable Maine Program Manager Vanessa Berry is quoted in this Portland Press Herald article about the Board of Environmental Protection voting in support of Maine’s new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for Packaging rules. The bill to create Maine’s first-in-the-nation EPR for Packaging law, out of which these rules came, was signed into law in 2021. NRCM spearheaded the efforts to get this bill passed. Four new electric vehicle (EV) chargers will be installed at the Ellsworth Town Hall soon.
NRCM Grassroots Outreach Manager Bronya Lechtman and members of the snowmobile and ATV community were featured in this WMTW news story about the November vote that passed the Maine Trails Bond. More than 520 organizations, towns, land trusts, and ATV and snowmobile clubs supported this first-ever $30 million bond in support of development and maintenance of Maine trails.
