You may be wondering why we have a fall photo as this week’s My Maine This Week feature, in the heart of winter. It’s because this photo, by Steph Griffin of East Machias, Maine, was sent to us along with Steph’s entries for our 2022-23 Fall in to Winter photo contest. Thank you, Steph!
Steph writes, “Last year a group of us committed to completing the fall 50 challenge, hiking 50 miles throughout the fall. The Machias River Preserve was at the top of our must-hike list. No matter the season, it is a beautiful, quiet hike, but the fall is when it really shows off its full beauty. Definitely a must hike for leaf peepers Downeast!”
