This is exciting! Our first international contribution to My Maine This Week comes to us from NRCM member Jeannie Mooney, a Mainer who now lives in Tasmania. Jeannie found this rock (look like any beautiful state you know and love?!) on a local beach.
Jeannie wrote, “You don’t have to live in Maine to love her. I’m reminded of my beautiful home state everywhere I go in Tasmania. Here she is at my local beach! The next day she was gone, covered by sand from the incoming tide reminding me of how fleeting life can be and how important it is to protect and appreciate every moment.”
Jeannie also shared this photo on Instagram (@jeanniemooneyart) where she wrote, “Mainers take notice: Contact your State representatives to support LD 1639, a bill closing the loophole that allows out-of-state dumping of toxic construction and demolition waste in State-owned landfills. There is no longer any room for loopholes and misleading language in our environmental protection laws.”
Thank you, Jeannie, for looking out for our state from the other side of the world!
