This photo by NRCM supporter Chris L’Abbé of Topsham, Maine, was taken a couple of years ago, when Great Grey Owls (who are rare in Maine…or should that be “whooooooo” are rare in Maine?) were sighted in some locations around the state. Chris photographed this owl on the Studd Mill Road in Passadumkeag.
Former legislator Bob Duchesne writes a column about birds in the Bangor Daily News and earlier this year wrote about some rare owls occasionally seen in Maine, and why, when they are being seen, most people will not share the specific location of the owls. Chris shared this location with us as this isn’t a photo from this year.
