Maine’s Public Reserved Lands are among our state’s most treasured lands—but many people don’t know it! They include much-loved places like Tumbledown, Grafton Notch, Kennebec Highlands, Bigelow Preserve, and many more. In fact, Maine has approximately 600,000 acres of Public Reserved Lands in more than 30 separate parcels located across the state. They are enjoyed for their beauty as well as for outstanding hiking, camping, birding, fishing, and hunting opportunities. NRCM is committed to protecting this legacy and these quintessential lands.
That includes helping people from across Maine (and beyond) understand how essential Maine’s Public Reserved Lands are to Maine’s natural heritage—and that these lands are accessible, free and open to the public, and include much-loved places! What better way to “put the focus” on these natural treasures than with a photo contest?

Thanks to everyone who entered our 2015 “I Love Our Maine Lands” photo contest. We received more than 85 photos (and one painting) of Maine’s public lands, and are pleased to announce the winners. We are also happy to be able to share all of the entries in the slideshow below.
