Libby Hill Forest, located near Sebago Lake in southern Maine, houses more than 11 miles of multi-use trails in a pleasant, wooded environment. A majority of the preserve is owned by the Gray Community Endowment, an independent 501(c)(3) organization, with the remainder belonging to the Town of Gray and its school district. The plethora of recreational opportunities available at Libby Hill Forest makes this a versatile four-season destination. There are trails for hikers, snowshoers, horseback riders, cross-country skiers, ATVers, snowmobilers, and mountain bikers.
The preserve’s central trail is the Moose Odyssey, a 3.1-mile easy-to-moderate loop through the woods. Connected to the Moose Odyssey are the Lynx, Harold Libbey, Ghost, and Outback Trails, which are more difficult and more varied in terrain. Be sure to keep a look out for wildlife, as these paths lead visitors through active moose and beaver habitats.
Since the turn of the millennium, various Gray organizations and committees have heightened efforts to preserve and manage the Libby Hill Forest. In 2003, the Gray Community Endowment obtained a donation of 46 acres, with 29 additional acres being purchased in 2009 with the help of a grant from the Land for Maine’s Future program.

Directions: The town of Gray can be found directly off Route 95. From Gray, head north on ME-26 for 1.5 miles before turning left onto Libby Hill Road.
