He seeks opportunities for common ground on issues such as responding to climate change, making our communities more sustainable and resilient, water quality, fisheries restoration, habitat protection, and land conservation. Before coming to NRCM, Nate spent a decade in coastal and maritime experiential education, spanning both coasts, the Great Lakes, Hawaii, the Canadian Maritimes, and the Caribbean. All of those adventures and early career internships for National Geographic in Washington, D.C., have informed why he holds Maine so dearly. Nate has a degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He and his partner live in Rockland with their cat Telltail and dog Howland.

Why I Do This Work

“I believe what is now Maine can serve as a beacon of hope in how we live with the natural world — protecting the timeless and traditional beauty of Maine and the resources that define us, while embracing new solutions to support resilient communities.”
