We are a couple of days late, but this past Saturday, February 22, was National Wildlife Day (one of two days of celebration, the other being September 4). We welcome a new-to-us photographer, Michelle Dellascio of Groveland, Massachusetts. Michelle found our My Maine This Week feature online because she has been coming to Maine throughout her whole life, and she wanted to share her Maine photos. She then sent these amazing photos of moose and deer at and near Tomhegan Wilderness Cabins on Moosehead Lake. You can see more photos by Michelle on Instagram @Mdellphotography.
Michelle saw this bull moose alongside the road from Jackman to Rockwood. She writes, “He was feeding at the roadside as we were driving back from Jackman. He watched us as we slowed down on the opposite side of the road. We quietly watched him as he continued to eat. He was very patient until a truck came up too close. Then he walked slowly away into the woods, and we were left with a beautiful memory of a Moosehead Lake experience.”
Michelle took this photo at Tomhegan Wilderness Cabins in Rockwood. She writes, “Tomhegan has a herd of deer that hang out at the cabins. The babies can be observed running along the lakeside and play in front of the cabins.
