NRCM member Dave Small of Old Town, Maine, shares his wildlife photos with us (and many others on his mailing list) each week. Usually, he sends multiple photos at a time, but this week, he sent just one…but it’s a fantastic one!
Dave writes, “I’m only sending one picture this week. It’s a photograph of a harbor seal taken at the Orland dam on the Narramissic River. The Narramissic River is a tidal river and in the spring alewives run from the ocean to the dam followed by harbor seals, Ospreys, Gulls, Double-crested Cormorants, and eagles. So, there’s lots of food for the following harbor seals.
This photo of the harbor seal is one of a very well fed seal. I have a standout print of this seal hanging in my bedroom. Every morning when I get dressed, I look at the photo, and I see a well contented, happy-go-lucky, and taking-it-easy harbor seal. So, I’m reminded daily to try to emulate this seal.”
Let’s all try to be this seal! Thanks, Dave!
