NRCM member David Preston of China Village, Maine, took a recent trip to Baxter State Park and had some incredible views of Katahdin during his trip. He shares two with us, and another photo of a visitor he came across while on his trip. Enjoy!
David said about this first photo: “This is my favorite photograph of the trip because of the dark cloud shadow and the brilliant green of the new leaves beyond. When Governor Percival Baxter gave this land to us, he stipulated that it remain ‘forever wild,’ two small words with huge importance.”
David shares this photo from his trip and writes, “Just got back from hiking in Baxter State Park, where we saw this young bull moose at Sandy Stream Pond. Katahdin trails were still closed, so we went up South Turner Mountain with a gorgeous view of the 3 Katahdin basins (cirques).”
