Forests & Wildlife Program Director
The Forests & Wildlife Program Director provides ongoing management and leadership for NRCM’s efforts to protect the natural character of the ecologically, economically, and recreationally important woods and wildlife of Maine. General responsibilities include advocacy before the Legislature and administrative bodies, communications with the media and public, collaboration with coalition partners, and project planning and implementation. The Program Director develops, maintains, and utilizes technical expertise on key policy issues in areas such as the ecological and economic values of Maine’s North Woods, habitat conservation, biodiversity, forest policy, outdoor recreation, and land use planning. Interim Executive Director
The Natural Resources Council of Maine (NRCM) seeks an experienced nonprofit leader to serve as Interim Executive Director to help build a collective vision, set direction, and position the organization for growth to further NRCM’s long legacy of accomplishments.
The Interim Executive Director of NRCM will serve as the leader of the organization for 8-18 months, working closely with the Board and staff to ready the organization for a new permanent Executive Director. The Interim Executive Director mobilizes and communicates with Board members, staff, organizational partners, key stakeholders, and NRCM members to effectively carry out NRCM’s mission. They maintain NRCM’s leadership role among environmental advocacy organizations in Maine and provide oversight to support consistent achievement of the mission, programs, financial objectives, and strategic plan. The Interim Executive Director will generally be on site 3-4 days per week. In the first three months, the Interim Executive Director will be responsible for conducting a comprehensive assessment of the organization and presenting recommendations that will maximize the current strengths of the organization, including recommending changes where needed, and position NRCM well for long-term growth and continued accomplishment. Temporary Part-time Gift Entry Associate
The Natural Resources Council of Maine (NRCM) is seeking a temporary, part-time Gift Entry Associate from July 2024-November 2024. This position provides leave coverage in the late summer and early fall for the Gifts, Records, and Stewardship Coordinator. The Associate will process and enter constituent gifts into the Raiser’s Edge constituent management database; prepare donor receipts; and reconcile daily gift reports with the finance department.
This role primarily requires working independently under the instruction and guidance of the Supervisor. This is an in-office position based in NRCM’s Augusta office. A consistent workspace, desktop computer, and phone will be available for in-office use; equipment will not be provided for remote use. Training on NRCM-specific protocols will be provided. The preferred schedule is 20-25 hours per week Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday. Separately, the department will also be seeking coverage for end of year gift processing for 12-15 hours per week from November – January. Leadership Gifts Officer
The Natural Resources Council of Maine (NRCM) is seeking a highly motivated and passionate individual to join our team as a full-time Leadership Gifts Officer. The Leadership Gifts Officer will be NRCM’s sole full-time frontline fundraiser of philanthropic gifts from individuals/households. This position is a “road warrior” with an emphasis on conducting in-person and video call visits with NRCM members and donors. The majority of travel takes place within Maine, with select trips to major U.S. cities. This hybrid position requires a minimum of one day a week, and more at certain times of year, working in NRCM’s Augusta, Maine, office.

Physical Requirements of the Job
The job requires working at a computer station for substantial lengths of time; performing office duties such as phoning, filing, and copying, and the ability to lift objects up to 10 pounds.

NRCM is committed to providing fair and competitive compensation to its employees. We base our compensation decisions on:
- A biennial market survey of comparable organizations and localities.

Benefits
Health Insurance
NRCM pays 100% of the premium for the employee and 60% of the premium for additional family members. The employee is eligible for this benefit the first of the month following employment.
Health Reimbursement Account (HRA)
All employees that participate in NRCM’s health insurance plan are eligible for the HRA, a healthcare plan paid by NRCM, that reimburses medical expenses approved through our health insurance provider.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Employees may contribute, through payroll deductions, on a pre-tax basis to a health and childcare reimbursement account program.
Employee Assistance Program
This benefit is designed to assist staff with various personal challenges from finances and legal to physical and mental health.
Life Insurance
NRCM pays life insurance premiums for each eligible employee for coverage up to one time annual salary with a maximum coverage of $50,000. The employee is eligible for this benefit three full months after the date of employment.
Short- & Long-term Disability
NRCM employees are covered for short- and long-term disability through the UNUM Life Insurance Company of America. NRCM pays the premium for this coverage for all eligible employees. This coverage goes into effect three full months after the date of employment.
Retirement Benefits
NRCM offers a tax-deferred 403(b) plan to allow employees to plan for retirement. After a six-month provisional period, NRCM will contribute 5% of an employee’s annual salary, with an additional 2% matching component to employees contributing at least 2% of their annual salary to their retirement fund.
Time Off
During their first year, employees accrue three weeks of paid vacation time. This increases to four weeks in subsequent years. Starting at year five, employees accrue another day a year for five years, reaching a total of five weeks (25 vacation days) annually.
