Roger Leisner of Augusta, Maine, is a new My Maine This Week photographer, but definitely not new to photography! Roger has photographed Maine people, places, and events for many years. We are glad to have Roger’s photo as this week’s feature.
Roger entered this photo into the contest at the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association’s Common Ground Country Fair, held in Unity during the third weekend after Labor Day each year. The photo below, of an Osprey with an alewife in its talons, won this year’s contest. Congrats, Roger!
Roger took this photo in May in Damariscotta Mills. If you have never seen the alewife run at the Damariscotta Mills fish ladder in the spring, you should add it to your list of things to do in May 2023.
