The Loon Echo Land Trust manages Peabody-Fitch Woods, which are available to the public all year long for free. There is much to do here. In addition to enjoying the gorgeous views, there are many opportunities to birdwatch and observe other wildlife. Dogs are permitted on the trails if they are leashed, so hikers can bring their furry companions. During the winter, visitors can use snowmobiles and ATVs on designated trails as well as cross-country ski. Narramissic Historic Farm is located within the woods with both a house and a barn that are available for tours from 11-3 Tuesday to Saturday through August 15.
Download a map of the trails. There are two trails: the Quarry Trail Loop and Peggy’s Pasture Loop. The latter is best for wheeled mobility equipment, including wheelchairs and strollers. The Quarry Trail passes by the granite quarries on Fitch Hill. Both are available to the public year-round. Visitors can take Peggy’s Pasture Loop via the trailhead that starts at the parking lot and hop on to the Quarry Trail Loop from the southern end.

Directions: From Portland and points south, head north on US-302 to ME-117 on the left. From the center of Bridgton, head south on US-302/ME-117 to where ME-117 breaks off from US-302 on the right. Go 0.8 miles on ME-117 and turn left onto ME-107. Go 2.4 miles and take a sharp right onto Ingalls Road. Go 1 mile to Narramissic Road on the left, and then a quarter mile to the end of Narramissic Road. The trailhead is located at the parking area next to and to the right of the Naramissic Farm Historic House. The lot is large enough for a bus, with a gravel surface, and there is one designated ADA parking space.
