This week’s My Maine feature is sent to us from a supporter from Clifton Beach, Tasmania, Australia! That’s about as far away from Maine as one can get, but Jeannie Mooney writes, “I come home every summer to visit family in Maine and of course to go camping in my beloved Maine woods! Tasmania and Maine are remarkably similar, but different. Sadly, no trip this summer…”
While Jeannie can’t come to visit her beloved Maine this summer, she writes, “I just recently came across the NRCM website. What a find! Sheltering and working from home is giving me time to go through photo hard drives and reminisce over my adventures up the Stud Mill Road & the Golden Road, two of my favorite haunts.”
What a great way to spend time at home — looking through favorite photos and remembering special memories. We encourage you to do the same, and if you have some photos of Maine’s wildlife, nature, and landscapes, please share them with us.
Jamie calls this photo, Up the Golden Road, and shares: “I came across these two moose while I was driving up the Golden Road near Millinocket. Not wanting to disturb them, I shot the photo through the windshield of my truck. After nearly 30 years, this is still one of my favorite photos.”
